Their new album, Industry Giants, comes out today (St. Patrick’s Day). We got an early taste and you can take a listen, too!

“Cheap Poltergeists” was our first choice of songs to review. They sounded very familiar to us. Geoff thought they sounded like The Archies and they did have a retro sound. There were tambourines! But then there were ‘woo’s. It got mixed reviews from the live chat room.

Before the next song, I got confused over bands from the 90s and reminisced over who people said I looked like, and Geoff really wanted to know where we’ve heard this band before, they have been playing since the 90s.

So after the pondering of superdrag’s history and my red hair, we finally played “You’re Alive”. Geoff had me lower the volume a minute or so in. He thought it sounded very garggly. I thought it had a rockabilly feel. The chatroom wanted to hear more so we turned it back up. Then we turned it down again. Geoff felt it was self-absorbed and twittery (not like twitter.com which reminds me, someone set us up a ComaSow twitter, thank you!). I was still stuck on the rockabilly sound and I kind of liked it. The chat room said that so far this band is repetitious and they sound like too many other bands. Now we’ve mentioned it before, but it’s hard to find a new sound.

Our final song was chosen because of Geoff’s weight loss. It’s called “Aspertame” which Geoff can’t have because it stalls. Geoff then shares his tips on weight loss (you should listen, he’s lost a ton!). He also gives out my laundry list of things to do for him which many of the guys in our chatroom seemed to be taking down. Sorry wives/girlfriends! Anyway, for “Aspertame”, we liked it! There was a part in the middle that we didn’t like but it definitely came back for a strong finish.

Overall we enjoyed superdrag, we just wish people would enunciate! Thanks for listening!
