In our 2nd episode this week, we reviewed the recently released album Animals by This Town Needs Guns out of Oxford.
Our first choice was “Panda” as Geoff thinks they are cuddly and cute. But before playing this, we had to discuss guns and cussing. I blew it within two seconds of the live chatroom requesting that we try to avoid cussing to rid ourselves of the explicit tag on iTunes. If you use iTunes, please comment/review us! So on to “Panda”. It wasn’t quite as cuddly as we thought. Not many reviews from the chat room. The lead singer reminded me of Radiohead slightly. We both realized that we didn’t pay total attention to the song but both enjoyed it being in the background music. We are holding judgement until we hear the next two songs.
So on to the 2nd choice, “Crocodile”. This one was not as well received. It seemed random and disjointed but not in a good way. This was something that sounded unpolished and something we’d expect to hear in a small club and be the song when we all go to the bathroom, grab a beer, and get a smoke.
Our 3rd choice, that we had to review due to our name, is “Pig”. I thought it was pleasant, Geoff thought it was crap. Our chatroom varied from relaxing, peaceful, and con. Geoff wrote down some of the lyrics. I liked them but he thought they were depressing and empty.
So overall This Town Needs Guns got a mixed review from us all. We liked some and not so much on others.
